Airway management is an essential and dynamic aspect of patient care. Providers can use many different types of intubation devices, skills, and techniques to successfully manage a patient’s airway. Managing a patient’s airway doesn’t start with an endotracheal (ET) tube but with understanding the anatomy of the airway, basic airway, and proper resuscitation skills. In this course, you will learn didactic skills and be able to apply those skills to real-life practice during the cadaver lab portion. Providers can successfully manage any airway scenario they encounter in the field by having a toolbox of different techniques and equipment knowledge.
Learning Objectives: By the conclusion of the course, participants will have learned:
- To identify vital anatomical structures of the airway
- Techniques to improve first-pass success
- The process of oral tracheal intubation, including rapid sequence intubation (RSI)
- Medications associated with RSI.
