This presentation provides real-world examples of how operators in the oil-and-gas, medical, air carrier, drone, and military–government sectors use a system of systems (SoS) technology approach to:

  • Connect data to dispatch, communications, operational centers, electronic flight bags, and other software systems
  • Enhance situational awareness
  • Mitigate disruptions to operations
  • Improve efficiency
  • Reduce risk for aircrew, operational personnel, passengers, cargo, and vital infrastructure.

Instructor Bio

Michael W. Middleton (major, USMC, ret.) is the founder and CEO of M3 Partners, which provides SafeHelipad and SafeHelideck software technology and aeronautical consulting for standardization, compliance, safety, and operations. He served in various capacities and locations during his active duty career in the US Marine Corps as a fleet helicopter pilot in support of US Fleet Marine Forces operations globally. Among other positions, Michael served as director of the Office of the White House Liaison for Marine Helicopter Squadron One, where he was responsible for worldwide rotary-wing transport of the president and vice president of the United States. A qualified US Navy scuba diver, he holds civilian certification as an airline transport pilot (ATP), airplane multiengine and commercial and instrument helicopter. He is also a certificated flight and instrument (CFI/CFII) airplane instructor.
