This course is designed to assist those in business aviation with the important task of exercising leadership by being a role model, empowering personnel, building effective teams, promoting the exchange of information, and making sound decisions in order to achieve flight department goals and promote corporate objectives.

Learning Objectives: By the conclusion of the course, participants will have learned:

  • Develop factual knowledge of the topics, conceptual knowledge of the topics, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Exercise leadership by being a role model, empowering personnel, building effective teams,and promoting the exchange of information

Instructor Bio

Daniel Prather, PhD, is an accredited airport executive (A.A.E.) and a certified aviation manager (CAM), having served as assistant director of operations at Tampa International Airport (KTPA) from 1998 to 2006 with responsibility for the helipad (and entire airfield) and coordination of temporary helipads associated with Super Bowl XXXV in 2001. He holds a doctorate in educational leadership, a master of public administration degree, and a bachelor of commercial aviation degree. He has eight years of full-time collegiate teaching experience at Middle Tennessee State University as an associate professor of aerospace, as well as professor of aviation science and founding chair at California Baptist University. He is an instrument-rated, private pilot (SEL) with plans to begin pursuing his helicopter private pilot certificate. He has also authored two textbooks: Airport Management and FBO Management.
