Many aviation operations are already far along in establishing a formal safety management system (SMS)—they just don’t realize it. Most people are aware of personal safety issues in the workplace. However, aviation professionals must also have the tools to recognize situations that would elevate operational risks as well as the ability to implement controls to mitigate those risks. In this course, participants will learn to foster a positive safety culture.

Learning Objectives: By the conclusion of the course, participants will have learned:

  • The principles of SMS, including planning and measuring safety performance
  • How to identify hazards and evaluate and manage risks
  • How to conduct an operational safety assessment
  • How to review and update risk-mitigation strategies.
