This session will give flight instructors of all skill levels tools, tips, and tricks to enhance training quality and safety during flight training. We’ll review effective communication techniques, methodical lesson planning, error correction, and identification of common student mistakes. At the completion of this session, attendees will be able to better organize a flight lesson plan, maximize the use of voice commands during training, and recognize and correct pilot-in-training errors.

Instructor Bio

Christopher “Chris” Horton has been an active flight instructor for more than a decade, having served as a primary instructor, check instructor, assistant chief flight instructor, and chief flight instructor, with a focus on conducting primary flight training and instilling safe habits in new instructors. He is a former member of HAI’s Safety Working Group and the US Helicopter Safety Team. Currently, Chris serves as an operations manager at HeliStream.
