The continued growth of helicopter aviation requires the acceptance and support of the people who live and work in our communities and who are affected by helicopter noise. Each of us as aviation professionals has an obligation to fly neighborly and represent our industry responsibly. NASA, the FAA, US Department of Transportation Volpe Center, and members of the HAI Fly Neighborly / Environmental Working Group have developed scientifically tested operational and safety strategies for noise abatement techniques in crucial phases of flight. This course concentrates on strategies and techniques for the Bell 205 aircraft. Attendees will leave the session with Bell 205–related data and knowledge of flight techniques that are safe and readily applicable during operation of their aircraft.

Juliet Page is a subject matter expert with more than 30 years of experience practicing in the field of acoustics and aerospace engineering, including the areas of atmospheric propagation, rotorcraft, tiltrotor, eVTOL, aircraft sonic boom, space, and launch vehicle noise. She has extensive experience conducting scientific research, regulatory standards and model development, and validation for air- and ground-based transportation systems through analytical development, experimentation, and measurement. The principal developer of the Advanced Acoustic Model helicopter, tiltrotor, and eVTOL community noise model, Juliet is currently chair of the HAI Fly Neighborly / Environmental Working Group and is active in the development, and promulgation to the helicopter operator community, of Fly Neighborly techniques. Recently, she and her Volpe team achieved FAA approval for a Fly Neighborly on-demand FAA WINGS pilot training credit program and have conducted multiple NASA–FAA acoustic research flight tests whose data are being used in updated Fly Neighborly training sessions for HAI HELI-EXPO 2021.
