Although safety is embedded throughout all levels of helicopter operations, managers can unintentionally create working environments that diminish safety rather than foster it. This course discusses the importance of developing emotional intelligence (EQ) to improve awareness, communication, and behavior. Developed EQ creates more effective leaders, stronger team and crew cohesion, and better decision-making under pressure. The result is enhanced safety and higher performance and productivity to meet business and safety goals. Attendees in this course will review the key elements of the EQ-i 2.0 Leadership Report, identify areas of leadership potential, and develop a personal EQ-i 2.0 learning plan.

Learning Objectives: By the conclusion of the course, attendees will have learned:

  • The role EQ plays in effective leadership and safety
  • The problems organizations experience when EQ is absent
  • How aspects of EQ can lead to derailing behaviors
  • Why it is important for managers to assess the EQ of their crews.
