Rotor Safety Challenge (RSC)
Pilot, Safety
Instructor: Bryan Smith, Airborne Public Safety Association (APSA)

Inadvertent entry into instrument meteorological conditions (IIMC) continues to be one of the leading lethal threats to helicopter operators. Despite advances in aircraft and avionics, we continue to suffer IIMC-related fatalities year after year. In this session, we’ll look at how the fundamentals of IIMC differ from those of planned flight into IMC. Safety management system–based IIMC survival methods, including training, crew resource management, policy suggestions, and survival techniques, will also be discussed.
