The result of a collaborative effort by OEMs, operators, and US federal agencies to uncover the unique aspects of autorotation, this in-depth session examines this critical flight maneuver and related mistakes most often discovered in accident investigations. Leaders in the helicopter instruction and training industry will present tips, tools, and techniques to prepare class participants to conduct safe emergency procedures and, ultimately, prevent accidents.

Nolan Crawford is an aviation safety inspector (ASI) assigned to the FAA’s Flight Technologies and Procedures Division, Flight Operations Group, where he’s responsible for developing, revising, and interpreting helicopter technical, regulatory, and guidance documents associated with operating within the US National Airspace System. A retired master Army aviator, Nolan has more than 30 years of aviation experience, both military and civilian, that spans air traffic control, helicopters, and airplanes. He holds an airline transport pilot certificate and flight instructor certificate for helicopters and airplanes.
