Mil2Civ: Landing Jobs in the Civil Helicopter Industry

Monday, March 22, 2021 | 12:00 – 6:00 PM

A successful career as a military aviator doesn’t easily translate into the commercial sector. There are several things you need to know NOW in order to prepare for a career in civil aviation after your retirement or upon the expiration of your term of service in the armed forces.

Attendees of this presentation will benefit from advice about, and mentoring in, skills and practices that will lead to a successful civil aviation career. You’ll get tips from those who’ve made the transition successfully. Several pros from the civil helicopter industry, most of whom were prior military, will present their lessons learned on topics including;

  • Logging PIC and flight times in accordance with FAA rules
  • Writing an aviation resume and nailing the interview
  • Avoiding common stumbling points for military aviators in the commercial helicopter industry
  • Practicing the critical art of networking

Also included will be special break-out sessions for maintainers.

The HAI Helicopter Industry Career Fair hosts recruiters from a variety of aviation organizations looking for YOU! Whether you’re coming to recruit or to be recruited, read on below to learn more about participating in one of our industry’s largest employment and career fairs.

For Job Seekers

Admission to the career fair for job seekers is FREE; however, admission to HAI HELI-EXPO requires a separate registration. Job seekers will be required to sign up in advance; please check back in January 2021 to sign up online.

If you’re planning to attend the career fair as a job seeker, please treat the career fair as a job interview: bring up-to-date resumes, dress appropriately, and be prepared to discuss your accomplishments and goals.

For Recruiting Organizations

Enroll as a recruiting organization in the HAI Helicopter Industry Career Fair to put your organization in front of thousands of qualified aviation professionals.

Note: recruiting space at the career fair is only available to HAI members who are current on their dues. (If you’re not a member, consider joining HAI today to take advantage of this and other member benefits.) Reservations for space will be taken in the order in which they are received, and space is limited.

The cost for each 8′x8′ career fair booth is $500. However, HAI members that have reserved and paid in full for booth or static space on the HAI HELI-EXPO show floor will receive a 50% discount, paying $250 for each 8′x8′ booth.

Career Fair exhibitors are required to abide by all HAI HELI-EXPO 2021 Rules & Regulations. HAI Show Management reserves its right to remove any material, display, or person that HAI Show Management deems to be offensive or in violation of the rules and regulations. All exhibiting organizations agree to comply with an abide by all federal, state, and local laws and/or ordinances, as well as the rules and regulations mandated by HAI Show Management, GES Exposition Services, and the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Any organization needing to cancel its reservation for space must do so in writing prior to 5:30 PM EST on Wednesday, January 29, 2021 (greg.brown@rotor.org). Cancellations received prior to this date will be issued a partial refund equal to the cost of the exhibit fee, minus a 20% service fee. Cancellations received after Wednesday, January 29, 2021 will not be issued a refund, under any circumstances. Any organization that fails to occupy their booth space on the day of the career fair, will not be issued a refund, for any reason.
